Winter glow: Top tips for winter wellness

Winter glow: Top tips for winter wellness

It's winter, sniffles start, energy levels dip and skin and hair can look a bit dull. This is due to a number of factors putting more environmental stresses on us, like the cold, crisp air, staying indoors, relying on drying heating systems and more hours of darkness. Here are some of my top tips for winter wellness....

1) Hydrate

It's easy to skip consuming at least 2L of water a day when it's cold and you want to reach for the warm coffee or hot chocolate. But it is still important to keep this habit up during winter to flush out toxins and keep your skin, scalp and hair hydrated and plump.

2) Get a daily dose of fresh air

We need a daily dose of sunlight to trigger the production of Vitamin D. Vitamin D keeps the immune system functioning normally so it's super important. Try and get outside for 30 minutes each day for a short walk - don't forget the SPF even in winter!

3) Avoid the super hot baths and showers

As my husbands says, 'you're not cooking pasta when you shower' 🤣. Keep those showers and baths warm, but not hot; as this strips moisture away from your body, leading to dull and dry skin and hair.

4) Sleep

Catch those Zzzzz’s! Never underestimate the power of sleep – this is the time when our body repairs and rejuvenates itself. Get to bed and sleep earlier (avoid binge watching Netflix to the early hours 😉), so your body and immune system has the best chance of remaining strong.

5) Get in those greens!

What you put into your body on the inside, shows on the outside! Try and keep the fruit and vegetables up over winter, especially those greens! If you struggle with this, a Greens powder is a great winter supplement.

Supplementing with a greens powder can be a great way to give yourself a boost this winter helping support your body with energy production, healthy digestion, regulating inflammation and immunity support.

Aglow's greens powders are loaded with organic superfoods like Spinach, Wheatgrass, Brocolli, Kale, Blueberries, Chlorella, Watercress and Spirulina.  These superfood have loads of plant powered nutrients like B vitamins, Vitamin C, magnesium, zinc, selenium and more.
